PAFCU Sends Over $19,000 for Polish Flood Relief
Poland was devastated last fall by the worst flooding in two decades, leaving widespread destruction across large parts of the country. Unprecedented rainfall, exceeding five times the normal September average, deluged the nation in just a few days. Countless homes and businesses were destroyed.
Thanks to the generosity of PAFCU members and a dollar-for-dollar match by the credit union, $19,430 is being sent to Claritas Poland. This highly-respected organization, similar to the American Red Cross, will distribute relief funds to flood victims.
"Our local Polish community has once again demonstrated true solidarity for a worthy cause," said PAFCU President John Swidwinski. ‘I am proud of the credit union and the determination of our Board of Directors in spearheading this effort. I am confident these funds will significantly assist those whose lives have been impacted by this natural disaster.’"
PAFCU has a strong tradition of supporting numerous fundraisers and non-profit organizations within the Polish-American community. Giving back to Polonia is fundamental to what sets PAFCU apart from other financial institutions.
"The credit union philosophy is ‘People helping people,’" Swidwinski said. "We are dedicated to serving the community and are proud to support this important cause in Poland."
Since its inception in 1976, PAFCU has donated over $1 million to various charitable causes within Polonia.
